Man killed in motorcycle crash identified

Advertiser Staff

A 31-year-old man injured in a motorcycle crash early Sunday morning in Hawai'i Kai died yesterday at The Queen's Medical Center.

The medical examiner's office today identified the man as Jesse M. Mori.

Police vehicular homicide investigators said Mori was operating a 2002 Honda motorcycle southbound on Keahole Street, 261 feet north of Kalaniana'ole Highway, that crashed into a tree after hitting a curb at 1:30 a.m. Mori was thrown from the motorcycle. He was not wearing a helmet, according to police.

Investigators said speed and alcohol appear to be factors in the crash.

The death is O'ahu's 44th traffic fatality of the year.

Since May 14, a motorcycle passenger and two operators have accounted for three of O'ahu's past five fatalities.
