New York developer and reality TV star Donald J. Trump today confirmed his involvement in a planned Waikiki high-rise.

Trump International Hotel & Tower Waikiki Beach Walk is slated to begin sales later this year. Construction will begin early next year and is scheduled to be finished by early 2009.

The 350-foot tower at Saratoga and Kalia roads will have about 460 units sold as hotel-condominiums for residential and hotel use.

Estimated prices were not announced. But Trump in a statement said the tower will be "the most luxurious development in one of the most recognized resort destinations in the world today — Waikiki Beach."

Beverly Hills, Calif.-based investment and development firm Irongate Capital Partners is developing the tower with Trump as part of Outrigger Enterprises' Waikiki Beach Walk redevelopment.

The Advertiser first reported Trump's then-tentative role in the planned high-rise a year ago.
