Heavy rains adding to commuters' traffic woes

Heavy rain is contributing to delays heading into town from the windward side this morning.Visibility on the Pali Highway is limited to just a few car lengths as a result of the rain.
Water is reported to be collecting in ponds near the tunnels on Likelike Highway and visibility in some spots is also a problem.
Traffic on the H-2 Freeway is backing up more than usual and was stacked up all the way back to Kipapa Bridge at about 7 a.m.
Things improve quite a bit once past the H-1/H-2 merge and the flow through the Middle Street merge is going fairly well at this time.
The drive in from Hawaii Kai slows significantly at the Koko Head Avenue overpass.
