Lingle OKs shorter workday for some state workers

Gov. Linda Lingle has authorized state employees to leave work early today if they feel they have a pressing need because of weather conditions, which have led to road closures.Lingle's staff sent a memo to department directors asking them to "utilize this authorization judiciously and only when the employee believes it is necessary to leave because of a pressing need."
