Contraflow set for Windward commuters

Advertiser Staff

The state will set up contraflow lanes on Pali Highway that will allow two lanes of traffic to travel from Kailua to Honolulu Thursday morning, a state transportation spokesman said.

Travel to Kailua on Pali Highway will remain closed.

The highway was closed today when a landslide on the Nu'uanu side of the tunnels blocked the roadway.

From 4 a.m. to noon Thursday, traffic from Kailua traveling to Honolulu will be contraflowed onto the Kailua-bound lanes near St. Stephen's Diocesan Center, state Transportation Department spokesman Scott Ishikawa said.

Traffic will proceed through the Kailua-bound Pali tunnels and be redirected onto the townbound lanes on the Nu'uanu side, Ishikawa said.
