No injuries reported in Pali Tunnels car crash

Advertiser Staff

This morning's landslide near the Pali Tunnels caused a woman in a van to crash but she was uninjured, said a spokesman for the city's Emergency Medical Services department.

The landslide and subsequent crash occurred outside of the second town-bound Pali Tunnel, which closed all lanes of the Pali Highway. Two paramedics who were stuck in traffic on the Kailua side of the tunnels hiked a quarter-mile to the scene, said Bryan Cheplic, spokesman for the EMS.

The landslide apparently came from the hillside on the Kailua-bound lanes but went all the way across to the town-bound lanes, Cheplic said.
