Two boys, ages 16 and 18, and a 15-year-old girl were arrested near Waiamea Bay yesterday after a police officer noticed suspicious activity going on inside a parked car.

Police said the patrol officer ran a check on the car's license plate and learned a 26-year-old woman had reported it stolen.

The officer arrested the three occupants of the car on suspicion of unauthorized control of a propelled vehicle and then learned that one of the boys had escaped from custody at the Hawaii Youth Correctional Facility in Kailua earlier in the day.

The man was detained at the center until police arrived and arrested him on suspicion of second-degree robbery.

A 16-year-old Mililani boy was arrested yesterday in connection with a robbery reported to police by a 17-year-old Mililani boy.

The older boy told police he was sitting in his car about 2:45 p.m. Tuesday at a park in Mililani when the younger boy confronted him, reached into the car and tried to take his neck chain.

The boy told police a struggle over the chain ensued and he was able to retrieve the chain, but not before the other boy punched him several times.

Police said the boy drove away from the robbery scene and reported the incident later.

A suspect in the case was identified yesterday, located and arrested on suspicion of second-degree robbery.
