One killed in Farrington accident

Police and paramedics appear to be in for a long night after a flurry of accidents, resulting in at least one death.

Tonight Emergency Medical Services personnel responded to a fatal head-on collision on Farrington Highway beside Maili Beach Park.

According to Byran Cheplic, EMS spokesman, at around 10 p.m. a van and an automobile slammed into each other, killing the driver of the car and seriously injuring the 53-year-old woman driver of the van and a 55-year-old man who was her passenger.

They were taken to The Queen's Medical Center.

Police closed Farrington in both directions at the scene.

Earlier, at around 9:40 p.m., ambulances rushed to the 1600 block of Kapi'olani Boulevard where a man, approximately 40 years of age, was struck by an car near 24-Hour Fitness center, said Cheplic. That man was taken to Queen's in critical condition.

Chelic said at around 5 p.m. a woman pedestrian was taken to Queen's in critical condition after she was stuck by a vehicle on California Avenue in Wahiawa.
