Man, 59, charged in threat case

A 59-year-old man was charged Tuesday with threatening to kill two men during a late-night argument Tuesday on Wanini Street in Waialua.
William R. Cypriano Jr., who was initially booked for felony first-degree terroristic threatening, was charged with second-degree terroristic threatening, a misdeameanor, and resisting arrest. His total bail is $500.
SUSPECT CLEARED IN LILIHA HOUSE FIRE
Police have closed an arson investigation and cleared a suspect in the Oct. 5 Liliha fire that destroyed one house and damaged five other structures and two vehicles after questioning the prime suspect in the case.
A 32-year-old man whom police had been looking for since a CrimeStoppers release Oct. 18 surrendered Tuesday to sheriff's deputies.
Police questioned him about the Liliha fire that started at his former girlfriend's residence and released him without charges yesterday.
Detective Gary Lahens said the man admitted to smoking a cigarette and "flicking it" toward a garage at 1908-A Liliha St., but was not aware until later that it had started a fire. "He's been cleared, and the case is closed," Lahens said.
The fire caused $195,000 damage to one house and $121,000 damage to the other structures and vehicles.
The man was released from police custody, but is being held at O'ahu Community Correctional Center on an outstanding $13,000 warrant.
POLICE SEEK HELP IN BEATING DEATH
Police homicide investigators working a "cold case" are seeking information in the March 21, 2005 beating death of Owen K. Hamada, 55.
Hamada's body was found in the women's restroom at Waikele Community Park, where he often slept at night. Hamada's wallet was missing, police said.
