Warriors accept Hawai'i Bowl berth

Advertiser Staff

The University of Hawai'i became the first college football team to accept a bowl-game invitation this season, earning a berth in the Sheraton Hawai'i Bowl with a 63-10 victory over Utah State Saturday.

Hawaii'i Bowl executive director Jim Donovan extended the invitation after the game at Logan, Utah.

The Warriors (7-2) of the Western Athletic Conference will face a Pac-10 opponent in the Hawai'i Bowl on Dec. 24 at Aloha Stadium.

UH is extended an invitation to its hometown bowl when it finishes the regular season with a winning record. Last year was the only year the Warriors didn't play in the Hawai'i Bowl since its start in 2002.
