Man hospitalized with head, body injuries from crash

A 45-year-old man remains in critical condition today after being hit by a car while crossing Kapiolani Boulevard last night.Police said the man was walking outside a crosswalk in a darkened section of Kapiolani near Atkinson Drive when he was struck by a 1997 Jeep Wrangler driven by a 19-year-old female.
The man suffered severe head injuries and multiple body injuries, said Traffic Division Sgt. Daniel Kaholokula.
Police said at least some of the streetlights in the area were not working at the time of the accident.
Speed and alcohol were not considered factors on the part of the driver, but Kaholokula said police do not know if the pedestrian had been drinking.
