Bigger swells on the way; sunny weather on tap

Advertiser Staff

Surf heights around O`ahu are expected to be in the 1- to 4-foot range today and tomorrow, but a bigger swell is expected by tomorrow night, according to the National Weather Service.

For the weekend, surf is expected to be biggest, 2 to 4 feet, on north-facing shores.

On east- and south-facing shores, the surf is expected to be in the 1- to 3-foot range.

West-facing shores will see waves of 2 feet or less through tomorrow.

A north-west swell is expected to start arriving tomorrow night, but waves likely will not reach advisory-level heights, the Weather Service says.

The general weather outlooks calls for mostly sunny skies through the weekend.

The National Weather Service says the front that brought heavy rain to the islands through the week has largely left the area, although there may be some brief passing showers at times.

Highs today throughout the state should be in the mid-80s. Lows tonight could range from 69 to 74 degrees, the weather service said.
