TONIGHT'S MUST-SEE

"Roseanne Barr," 8 p.m., HBO. At her worst, Roseanne Barr is just another stand-up comedian. At her best, however, she's Roseanne — a distinctive voice. Yes, Barr makes it clear that she hates men and women and George Bush and dumbed-down society and, perhaps, some of her three ex-husbands. She admits she's done the things she tells her kids not to do. Beyond that, however, are some genuinely sharp insights. It's good to have her back.

"Saturday Night Live," 10:30 p.m., NBC. This is a "Best of Darrell Hammond" special just in time for the elections. Hammond has been a master during those times, impersonating Bill Clinton, Dick Cheney, Al Gore, Donald Rumsfeld and more. There are others he's done, from Regis Philbin and Donald Trump to Sean Connery and the Rev. Jesse Jackson. Often, the writing in these sketches has been so-so. Hammond's performances, however, are consistently good.

OF NOTE

"CSI: Miami," 7 p.m., CBS. In a rerun, DNA clears a man who has spent six years in prison for rape. Now comes the difficult job of re-opening an old case.

"CSI: Crime Scene Investigation," 8 p.m., CBS. This rerun sees a man's body found wedged into a chimney. That gives police an opening to search the house.

"Law & Order: Special Victims Unit," 9 p.m. Charles Shaughnessy plays a lawyer who seems ready to get away with rape, until a fresh witness (Leslie Caron) arrives.

"Cracker: A New Terror," 4 and 7 p.m., BBC America. If you missed this strong movie on Monday, catch the rerun. Robbie Coltrane returns to his long-ago role of Fitz, a smart and flawed criminal psychologist.
