An ad in the Nov. 4, 1890, Pacific Commercial Advertiser listed mail that had not been picked up at the General Post Office.

1887: Kamehameha School formally opens. The Pacific Commercial Advertiser noted that those in attendance at the ceremony included King Kalakaua, Queen Kapi'olani, Princess Lili'uokalani, Princess Ka'iulani, Samuel Damon and Henry Whitney.

1990: Harry Weinberg, who parlayed a mid-1950s investment in Honolulu's HRT bus system into a real estate-focused investment portfolio unmatched in size in Hawai'i, dies at the age of 82. He left his fortune to a foundation to aid the poor.
