BeachBoys, CaneFires win

Left-hander Atsushi Nohmi pitched three-hit ball over five innings and Mark Minicozzi slugged his league-leading fourth home run to help the Waikiki BeachBoys beat the Honolulu Sharks, 4-2, Sunday in Hawaii Winter Baseball at Les Murakami Stadium.

Nohmi, (3-0) allowed two walks and had three strikeouts. Two relievers followed, allowing a run apiece, before Andrew Johnston pitched a scoreless ninth for the save.

Waikiki improved to 13-11, while Honolulu dropped to 10-14. Both are in HWB East.

At Hans L'Orange Park, Yasushi Iihara, Mike Stodolka and Jeff Corsaletti homered to power the West Oahu CaneFires to a 5-1 victory over the North Shore Honu.

Righthander Joba Chamberlain gave up an earned run on three hits over five innings, striking out five, for the victory.

The CaneFires lead the HWB West with a 13-11 record, while North Shore is 11-11.
