ESPN pulls plug of Boise State-San Jose State game

Advertiser Staff

DENVER – After announcing last Wednesday that Saturday's Boise State-San Jose State football game would be televised at 7 p.m. (PT) on ESPN2, the network informed the Western Athletic Conference that it would not televise the game.

"We are very disappointed that ESPN has made this decision," said WAC Commissioner Karl Benson. "It is very unfair to both San Jose State and Boise State."

Benson acknowledged that the WAC has been in discussion with ESPN to move the Nov. 25 Boise State-Nevada game to Friday, Nov. 24, and that the failure to resolve that issue may have led to ESPN making the decision not to televise the Boise State-San Jose State game.

Benson went on to say, "San Jose State acted in good faith to move the game to accommodate ESPN. Coach Dick Tomey and his team deserve much better treatment."

The game between 13th-ranked Boise State (9-0, 5-0 WAC) and San Jose State (6-2, 3-1 WAC) has been moved back to its original starting time of 3 p.m. (PT).

San Jose State plays at Hawaii the following week at Aloha Stadium.
