The Loos recently made a generous donation to the HPU to build a new performing arts space, the Paul and Vi Loo Performing Arts Center, which will house a new student center as part of proposed development of the Windward campus.

In the interim, the present theater will bear the couple's name.

More than 40 years ago, Paul C. T. Loo was one of four prominent citizens — the others were Eureka Forbes, Elizabeth W. Kellerman and the Rev. Edmond Walker — who were prime movers in the establishment of the Hawai'i Pacific College, now the Hawai'i Pacific University. Loo remains the surviving founder of the university and serves as a member of the HPU Board of Trustees.

He also is the founder of HPU's annual Paul C. T. Loo Distinguished Alumni Banquet and received, in 2001, the school's highest honor, the Fellow of the Pacific Award.

A 45-year veteran of Morgan Stanley, Loo is executive director of Hawai'i's oldest and largest investment brokerage firm, overseeing five offices throughout Hawai'i.
