Fire damages home on Big Island

A fire early this morning severely damaged a home that was under construction in the Ainaloa subdivision in the Pahoa district on the Big Island.The fire, on Jewel Drive, was reported at 12:01 a.m., under control at 12:34 a.m. and extinguished at 12:47 a.m.
Firefighters from Pahoa station were on the scene within seven minutes of the first alarm and found about 60 percent of the home was already engulfed in flames.
A fire prevention captain and two fire inspectors were at the home this morning determining the cause of the blaze.
A suspicious fire was extinguished at the same home on Oct. 31. An initial estimate set damages to the home at $150,000.
