Elderly man passes out at Ka'ala polling station

Advertiser Staff

City paramedics are at Ka'ala Elementary School on California Avenue in Wahiawa at this time tending to an elderly man who apparently passed out at a polling place at the school.

Bryan Cheplic, spokesman for the city Emergency Services Department, said the man has regained consciousness but is being "combative" toward those trying to assist him and resisting efforts to get him to go to the emergency room at Wahiawa General Hospital to be examined.

"From what our people at the scene can tell, this might be a diabetic problem," Cheplic said. "It doesn't appear to be really serious, but we're working as best we can with the patient right now."
