Indictment: Maui man helped Chinese with missile technology

Advertiser Staff

A Maui resident in federal custody on suspicion of selling Stealth bomber secrets to foreign governments was indicted today on new charges that he helped the People's Republic of China develop an undetectable cruise missile.

A federal grand jury in Honolulu returned an 18-count superseding indictment against Noshir S. Gowadia, 62, accusing him of designing an exhaust nozzle for a cruise missile that hides the missile heat signature from radar.

A release from the U.S. attorney's office states Gowadia could face the death penalty "if certain staturoy criteria are met" and fines totaling $250,000.
