Golf free in afternoon at Princeville

Advertiser Staff

Juniors can golf free in the afternoon at Princeville Golf Courses on Kaua'i. The new policy started this month. Free play is available after 4 p.m. on both the Makai and Prince courses, for golfers 17 and under who walk the course (use of a golf cart is not included). Golfers under the age of 11 must be accompanied by an adult player, who pays a special $10 fee.

"Today's juniors are an important segment of the PGA's 'Play Golf America' initiative to develop new players and grow the game of golf," Princeville Director of Golf Michael Castillo said. "We want to encourage young people to learn the game and practice their skills. Late afternoon is generally a slow time on the courses, providing the perfect opportunity for young players to get out and play a few holes without feeling rushed or intimidated by other more experienced players."

In addition to the free play in the afternoon, juniors can get 50 percent off all non-promotional rates the rest of the day.

The Juniors Play Free program is offered on a space-available basis, so advance tee times cannot be made. For more information on the program, or to book a tee time for regular play, call the Prince Course (826-5001), Makai Course (826-3581), or toll free (800-826-1105).
