Punahou All-State players headed to UH, Mainland

The University of Hawaii women's volleyball team will land an All-State volleyball player from Punahou School.

Liz Ka'aihue, an outside hitter who probably play libero for UH, signed a letter of intent to with UH, Punahou officials said.

Today is the first day commitments can received for sports such as volleyball.

Ka'aihue was an All-State first-team player her freshman and sophomore season. Her junior year was injury-plagued.

Other Punahou School athletes also committed today to Mainland schools, according to Punahou.

Larissa Nordyke, an outside hitter, signed with UC Irvine. She was an All-State player in 2004, but had an injury-filled year in 2005.

Spencer McLachlin, 6 feet 7, the Advertiser's All-State Player of the Year last season, signed with Stanford.

Riley McKibbin, 6 feet 3, an All-State setter in 2005, committed to USC.
