AARP looks for tax preparation volunteers

The Hawaii Asset Building Coalition, the Internal Revenue Service and the AARP are issuing a call for volunteers who can help with free tax assistance to the elderly, non-English speakers and low-income people during the next tax season.Last year more than 200 volunteers helped more than 5,000 taxpayers with more than 10,000 federal and state returns.
The volunteers will receive free training on preparation of basic individual tax returns. People who are interested should call the AARP at 955-5776 or the Hawaii Asset Building Coalition at 539-1503.
