ISLAND LIFE SHORTS
Get the lowdown on polars

Advertiser Staff

Why don't polar bears slip on ice? Wildlife photographer Tom Ocasek will have the answer when he chats about "Polar Bears in Paradise," at 6 p.m. today at the Hawai'i State Library.

Ocasek, who lives in Hawai'i Kai, returned Sunday from an expedition to Canada's Hudson Bay area to photograph what he calls "fantastic animals ... the largest carnivorous predators in the world, and at the top of the food chain."

The one-hour program is suitable for ages 12 and older. Information: 586-3500.
