Folks on the North Shore have been celebrating since yesterday, but not to worry: Everyone can still get in on the fun today and tomorrow at the Op (as in Ocean Pacific) Pro Hawaii North Shore Makahiki Festival at Hale'iwa Beach Park.

Among the activities: hula, lots of keiki stuff, storytelling, food booths and a village of local artists. Also:

  • Recording artist Elan, who fronted The Wailers for three years, will close tonight's festivities with a concert at 7:30 p.m.

  • The animated film "Curious George" hits the screen at 7:15 p.m. tomorrow. The North Shore's own Jack Johnson did the soundtrack.

Festival begins at noon each day. Admission is free. www.makahikifestival.com.
