Jingle. Jangle. Burp! Why does Santa Claus, with his fist in the air and a stein full of suds, look so self-satisfied? The brew he's quaffing is his own Santa's Private Reserve Ale from Rogue Ale. The dark-amber new brew has the taste thwack of a double-hop bomb. Samples of Santa's Private Reserve and other winter beers will pour at Winter Blues, Willows' monthly Hops & Grinds beer and pupu party, from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Friday, $25. 952-9200.

MAGIC LOTION

After a months-long hiatus from Sephora shelves, the beauty chain's house moisturizer is back! So many moisturizers, so little true advertising. But this miracle whip lives up to billing, seeping into skin with no residual oiliness, leaving just a healthy shine and citrus scent. Works on manhide, too.

ON THE WATERFRONT

The new monthly party The Dock Sessions showcases local original music. (That's Resistor's Kevin Jones at September's bash.) Sea breezes, cocktails and musicians mix at Don Ho's Island Grill. You can't pigeonhole this event — the genre changes every time. Next up: "Artists ª bands." Artists Malia Leinau, Marina Miller and Everyone each chose their pet band — Grapefruit, Swampa Z.Z. and K*Luvs*M. — to perform. The night starts at 9:15 p.m. Saturday, $5 before 10 p.m., $10 after; The808SceneZine.com.
