Philippine music, classics in Waipahu

Tenor Noel Espiritu Velasco and mezzo-soprano Gigi Mitch-ell-Velasco will present "An Evening of Philippine Music and Classics" at 7:30 tonight at the FilCom Center in Waipahu.

Noel Espiritu Velasco is a Pavarotti International Voice Competition winner and Philippine national treasure. Gigi Mitchell-Velasco is a winner of New York's Liederkranz Wagnerian Competition.

The program is dedicated to the Filipino spirit of adventure.

The $45 tickets include a dinner reception at 5 p.m. There will be serenades, arias, duets and songs about love, dreams, and a visit to American music theater. The program also will feature folk songs from the Ilokano, Tagalog and Visayas regions.
