Big Island police searching for store robber

Big Island Police are asking for the public's help in identifying a man who robbed a Hilo convenience store on Saturday.

Between 4:45 a.m. and 5 a.m., the man entered the Kawili Street 7-Eleven brandishing a knife in each hand and demanded money from the cashier.

After the cashier placed cash in a plastic bag, the robber fled on foot heading west on Kawili Street. He was wearing light blue jeans and a camouflage hooded jacket with the hood covering his head. He also had a camouflage bandanna over his face.

The man is as about 5 feet 7 to 6 feet tall with a slim build.

Police ask anyone with information to call officer Robert Panem at 961-2213, or the police department's non-emergency telephone number at 935-3311.

Tipsters who prefer to remain anonymous may call Crime Stoppers at 961-8300 in Hilo or 329-8181 in Kona.
