Hawaiian Telcom: 3rd quarter losses narrow to $43.9M

Hawaiian Telcom said it narrowed its losses in the third quarter.The local phone company said today it lost $43.9 million during the three months ending Sept. 30, down from a $59 million loss in the year-earlier period.
Hawaiian Telcom, formed by Washington, D.C.-based Carlyle Group's $1.6 billon buyout of Verizon Hawaii Inc. last year, said revenues increased 17.3 percent to $141.7 million during the latest third quarter compared with the same quarter a year earlier. Operating expenses rose 2.6 percent to $154.7 million during the same period.
