HONOLULU, HAWAII - Junior Achievement of Hawaii today announced it has joined with Bank of Hawaii to teach local students the "economics of life."
Junior Achievement of Hawaii will receive seven volunteers from the Na Hoku Imua, a professional development program at Bank of Hawaii, impacting over 300 students in the Honolulu area. "We are thrilled to receive volunteer support from Bank of Hawaii, a longtime champion of Junior Achievement. These Bank of Hawaii volunteers will impart their experience and financial knowledge to students who are starting to learn the value of personal financial literacy and the economics of life," said Steven Grant, president of Junior Achievement of Hawaii.
"As an organization committed to financial literacy, Bank of Hawaii employees are keenly aware of the critical role early education plays in creating a generation of knowledgeable consumers," said Jean Hamakawa, Executive Vice President and Director of Human Resources at Bank of Hawaii. "JA is one of the best ways to reach not only young people, but their families, as we know that the students go home and share what they have learned in class." The Bank of Hawaii volunteers are part of Na Hoku Imua, a unique leadership development program that includes rotations throughout the entire organization, professional/personal development and corporate/community-based projects.
