Agbayani, Isle youths on Japan baseball tour

A group of local youths, along with former Saint Louis and Hawaii Pacific alum Benny Agbayani, will visit Japan for the fifth Goodwiill Youth Baseball Tournament from Sunday to Thursday.The team will visit cities in Ehime Prefecture, a fisheries school, as well as a memorial for those who died on the Ehime Maru when it sank off the coast of Oahu on Feb. 9, 2001.
Agbayani, who played for the New York Mets in Major League Baseball, now plays for the Chiba Lotte Marines in Japan.
"I am honored to be involved with both the Hawaii and Ehime baseball players," Agbayani said. "It's a perfect union and it's so important to continue what was started in 2002."
