'Iolani Palace marks King Kalakaua's birthday today

In honor of King Kalakaua's birthday, 'Iolani Palace will be draped with red, white and blue bunting at 11:30 this morning, a recreation of the original bunting for the palace's 1886 birthday jubilee.The Royal Hawaiian Band will perform at 11:30 a.m., followed by a review of the Royal Guard by David Kawananakoa; guards will remain posted until 3:30 p.m. at the four major gates of the palace grounds.
