1916: The Pacific Commercial Advertiser reports that a large portion of the 'Ainahau property in Waikiki will be cut into lots and put on the market.
1979: Federal Judge Samuel King approves a split-up of the $1.51 million beer antitrust settlement here. Under the terms of the settlement of the price-fixing case against five beer companies, retail outlets were to get 46 percent of the money and beer drinkers who filed a claim for the years 1973 to 1976 got 54 percent.
1983: A rolling 40-second earthquake measuring 6.7 on the Richter scale causes more than $6 million in damage on the Big Island The quake was centered near Ka'oiki.
1984: A United Airlines 747 with 415 passengers and crew aborts takeoff from Honolulu Airport's reef runway after a tire blew and metal debris punctured a fuel tank, causing a leak. About 35 passengers were injured in the evacuation of the plane, one seriously.
