WAILUKU, Maui — Jordan Helle completed 21 of 31 passes for 300 yards and three touchdowns last night to lead Baldwin to a 22-17 victory over Mililani in the first round of the First Hawaiian Bank/HHSAA Football State Championships.

The Bears, playing before a spirited home crowd of about 4,000 at War Memorial Stadium, improved to 10-0-1 and will play defending champ Kahuku (8-2) in Friday's semifinals at Aloha Stadium. Mililani's season ends at 8-4.

Baldwin took a 22-17 lead with 10:21 remaining in the game on Helle's 14-yard touchdown pass to Chase Nakamura. The Trojans advanced to the Bears' 29 on its final series, but a Hail Mary pass on the game's last play fell incomplete in the end zone.
