Big Island police release murder suspect

Big Island detectives released Daniel Dejarnette, 53, of Ka'u, last night after he was arrested Tuesday as a murder suspect in the death of his wife Yu Dejarnette, 56.Daniel Dejarnette's release came at 8:30 p.m., pending further investigation.
On Sunday, Ka'u patrol officers responded to the Dejarnette residence in Hawaiian Ocean View Estates, in Ka'u, of a reported home accident where Yu Dejarnette was found by her husband lying on a lava embankment near their residence.
Based on a preliminary investigation by patrol officers, detectives were summoned and a more through investigation was conducted.
An autopsy conducted on the victim indicated that the cause of death was due to the extensive head injuries that she sustained.
