Advertiser Staff

Hawai'i clinched its 12th consecutive regular-season volleyball title and the top seed in next week's Western Athletic Conference Tournament with a 30-21, 26-30, 30-20, 30-25 victory over Idaho last night at Memorial Gym in Moscow, Idaho.

The 13th-ranked Rainbow Wahine (23-5, 15-1 WAC) open the tournament Wednesday night in Reno, Nev., against the winner of that morning's match between Louisiana Tech and Fresno State. Semifinals will be played Thanksgiving night and the championship on Friday.

Hawai'i got 19 kills from Jamie Houston, 17 from Sarah Mason and 15 from Kari Gregory in a second straight erratic performance. The Rainbows hit just .182 for the match, while the Vandals, who hit for a negative percentage in the first and third games, finished at .050.

The loss dropped Idaho (10-17) into a three-way tie for third at 9-6, with San Jose State and Nevada.
