By Paula Rath
Advertiser Staff Writer

Lan Chung, half of the designer duo behind Fighting Eel, and her new partner Landy Cheung will open The Butik on Wednesday. The grand opening will be from 4 to 8 p.m., with prizes and pupu. The store is at 1067 Kapi'olani Blvd. — in the Public Storage building, across from McKinley High School.

The Butik features a mix of designers from Los Angeles, New York and Paris, including Bailey 44, Who Cares, Michelle Jonas, Mara Hoffman, Alice & Trixie, T-Bags and, of course, Fighting Eel.

RABID FOR RABOTIN SHOES?

Thierry Rabotin is not a household name in Honolulu — yet. The sophisticated shoe designer is a native Frenchman with a commitment to quality, comfort and modern design. His shoes are hand-made in Italy. They have become a cult favorite with Island women who travel a lot.

Sandal Tree Ala Moana will host an exclusive trunk show of Rabotin shoes from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. tomorrow. There will be drawings for free shoes and a special gift with purchase. 957-0300.

MANOLOS, GEMS AT NEIMAN MARCUS

Carrie Bradshaw, eat your heart out. A trunk show of Manolo Blahnik's resort collection will be in the Neiman Marcus shoe salon through tomorrow.

Today and tomorrow also mark the annual "Be Jeweled" event with trunk shows by Turkish goldsmith Gurhan and Italian jewelry company Damiani.

On Nov. 24 and 25, David Lin, owner of T. S. Lin & Sons, will present a trunk show of precious jade from the Golden Triangle (the area between Burma, Thailand and China) as well as museum-quality antique jade carvings.

Also, a St. John representative will be available from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. today, with a special trunk show.
