Warriors ranked No. 25 in three football polls

Advertiser Staff

The University of Hawai'i's school-record eighth consecutive victory vaulted the Warriors to the No. 25 spot in three college football polls today.

UH is ranked in the Associated Press Top 25 poll, the USA Today Top 25 coaches' poll, and the Harris Interactive College Football Poll.

It is the first appearance by UH in a poll since November 2002, when UH was ranked No. 25 in a ESPN/USA Today poll.

"It's fan ... tas ... tic," defensive end Ikaika Alama-Francis said.

Slotback Ryan Grice-Mullins said the rankings "made all of that hard work over the summer worth it. There's a lot of sweat in our record."

"I'm so happy for our guys," UH defensive coordinator Jerry Glanville said. "They've worked so hard for this."

UH is 9-2 (7-1 in the Western Athletic Conference) after beating San Jose State 54-17 last night and plays Purdue Saturday at Aloha Stadium. It closes its regular season Dec. 2 against Oregon State. UH then will play in the Dec. 24 Sheraton Hawaii Bowl against a Pac-10 team.

Ohio State is No. 1 in both the AP and USA Today polls, with Michigan still No. 2 in the AP, and Southern California No. 2 in the USA Today poll.
