Police seek information in death of Ka'u woman

Big Island detectives have released Daniel Dejarnette, 53, of Ka'u, who had been arrested Tuesday in connection with the death of his wife Yu Dejarnette, 56.

Daniel Dejarnette was released Thursday night pending further investigation.

Patrol officers responded Nov. 12 to the Dejarnette residence in Hawaiian Ocean View Estates, in Ka'u, to a report of an accident in which Yu Dejarnette was found by her husband lying on a lava embankment near their residence.

Based on a preliminary investigation by patrol officers, detectives were summoned for a more through investigation.

An autopsy indicated that the cause of death was extensive head injuries.
