UH's Brennan named finalist for national QB award

University of Hawai'i quarterback Colt Brennan Tuesday was named one of the three finalists for the Davey O'Brien National Quarterback Award that honors the top college quarterback.Notre Dame's Brady Quinn and Ohio State's Troy Smith, both seniors, are the other finalists, officials announced.
The original watch list had 34 players and was trimmed to 18 semifinalists earlier this month.
The winner will be announced Dec. 7 on ESPN in Orlando, Fla., and be feted Feb. 19 in Fort Worth, Texas.
Award officials said Brennan will be invited to both events. A UH spokesperson said Brennan plans to attend the announcement event in Orlando.
