Advertiser Staff

Brigham Young-Hawai'i junior outside hitter Michelle "Tuli" Peters has been named to the 12-player AVCA Division II All-America women's volleyball first team.

Peters last week also was named to the Daktronics Division II All-America first team.

Hawai'i Pacific senior middle blocker Barbara Martin was named to the AVCA second team. BYUH setter LeeAnn Mapu was an honorable mention pick.

The selections were made by an American Volleyball Coaches Association committee.

Minnesota Duluth junior right side/opposite hitter Vicky Braegelmann and Lock Haven senior middle blocker Li YiZhi were named national players of the year.

Peters, a Kahuku High graduate from La'ie, averaged 5.56 kills and 3.89 digs per game while leading the Seasiders to an undefeated regular season and the championship of the Pacific West Conference. BYUH lost in the opening round of the NCAA II Pacific Regional to finish with a 20-1 record.
