Purdue coach unhappy with game against Warriors

Advertiser Staff

Purdue football coach Joe Tiller said Tuesday he wanted no part of Saturday's football game at the University of Hawai'i and urged his athletic director last year to tell UH, "We ain't comin'."

Tiller, whose Boilermakers are 8-4, said the game "doesnıt make a lot of sense" for Purdue and he would not schedule UH in the future, even on a home-and-home basis.

The comments came during a media teleconference Tuesday morning where Tiller also said he had requested Big Ten officials to work the game after seeing UHıs controversial victories over Northwestern and Michigan State in 2004.

The Western Athletic Conference said Pac-10 officials will be assigned to work the game.

More detailed accounts of Tiller's teleconference and commentary will run in Wednesday's Honolulu Advertiser.
