Pedestrian struck in Salt Lake

Advertiser Staff

A 45-year-old man is in critical condition at The Queen's Medical Center following a pedestrian accident at the Ala Ilima Street and Ala Lilikoi Street intersection in Salt Lake at 9:25 p.m. last night.

The man was struck in the crosswalk, but police said the "Don't walk" signal was on.

The 45-year-old female driver was heading north on Ala Lilikoi Street in a maroon 1993 Ford Aerostar van when the accident occurred.

The pedestrian was pinned under the car after being hit and dragged a short distance. He suffered lacerations to his head, a broken hip and punctures to his leg.

It is not known if speed, alcohol or drugs were a factor, police said.
