Advertiser Staff

Tiger Woods shot a 6-under par 66 Wednesday to capture his seventh PGA Grand Slam of Golf at Po'ipu Bay Golf Course on Kaua'i.

Woods finished the 36-hole tournament at 8-under 136, two shots ahead of Jim Furyk, who shot a 71. Woods won $500,000.

The Grand Slam is an annual event featuring a four-man field consisting of majors winners.

Geoff Ogilvy shot a 74 to finish at 142 and Mike Weir (74) was at 145.

Woods, who trailed by Furyk three shots entering the final 18 holes, played bogeyless golf on Wednesday, sinking four birdies on the front nine to tie Furyk.

A bogey at the par-4 10th, dropped Furyk to a stroke behind Woods.

Woods increased his lead to two with a birdie on the par-4 15th.

It was Woods second consecutive Grand Slam championship. He won five in a row from 1998 to 2002. Woods didn't play in 2003 and 2004.

The Grand Slam of Golf has been played on Kaua'i for the past 13 years, but the PGA has yet to announce the site for next year's event.

Las Vegas and the Caribbean are also said to be interested in hosting.
