Man nabbed after car break-in

Police caught a would-be car thief in the act early this morning in Makiki.

Police received an anonymous call about 2:05 a.m. that a man was breaking into a car near Emerson and Green streets.

As patrol officers rolled up on the scene a man jumped out of the car and ran.

The officers caught up with the 37-year-old man, who has no local address, and detained him. He was arrested on suspicion of attempted unauthorized control of a propelled vehicle after the officers discovered the car's door lock and ignition had been damaged.

Arrest in Waikiki sexual assault case

A 33-year-old man was arrested yesterday in connection with a sexual assault reported to the police last week.

A 23-year-old woman told police she was assaulted between 3 a.m. and 3:15 a.m. Saturday as she was getting into her car in Waikiki.

The assailant ran away before police arrived at the scene.

Police were able to locate the suspect yesterday and arrested him on suspicion of first-degree sexual assault.

Boyfriend arrested in link to reported assault

A 24-year-old was man arrested on Halekapio Street in Waipahu late last night on suspicion of multiple felony offenses after his 23-year-old girlfriend reported being assaulted.

Police went to the home about 10:30 p.m. where the woman told them the boyfriend assaulted and threatened to harm her during an argument.

Police said that as officers were preparing to transport the man to the police station to be booked, a semi-automatic handgun fell out of his waistband.

The boyfriend was then arrested on suspicion of carrying a firearm, being a felon in possession of a firearm, abuse of a family or household member and first-degree terroristic threatening.

Man arrested in bogus check incident

A 50-year-old man with no local address was arrested at a Wai'anae bank yesterday after he allegedly attempted to cash a forged stolen check.

Police officers who were at the bank investigating an unrelated complaint watched as the man came into the bank about noon handed over the check and presented a state identification card.

When the teller became suspicious of the check, police arrested the man on suspicion of second-degree forgery, attempted second-degree theft, and unauthorized possession of personal confidential information.

Police seek men tied to reported robbery, burglary

Police are looking for two men who robbed two Makiki men twice in a five-day period.

Police said one of the robbery victims met the two men at a Waikiki nightclub last Wednesday and invited them back to his apartment for drinks.

While at the apartment, the two men invited over robbed the man who had invited them in and the man's roommate at gunpoint and threatened to harm them if they called police, police said.

One of the men who was robbed told police he was walking along a street near his apartment on Monday when the same two men accosted him, made him return to the apartment and forced him at gunpoint to open the door. The two men then burglarized the apartment taking the victim's personal items before driving away, police said.

Man arrested in connection with gunpoint robbery

Police yesterday arrested a 21-year-old man who has no local address as suspect in a Nov. 14 robbery of a 28-year-old man at a Waikiki area park.

The older man told police the younger one approached him, drew a semi-automatic pistol and demand cash.

Police said the man who reported the robbery was able to identify a suspect yesterday.

Members of the Waikiki police district crime reduction unit then located the man and arrested him on suspicion of first-degree robbery.
