Pedestrian killed in Kalihi Valley identified

The city Department of the Medical Examiner has identified the Kalihi Valley pedestrian who died this morning after being hit by a car then run over by a pickup truck as Russell Ventura, 61, of Honolulu.Police said it appeared that Ventura was trying to cross Kalihi Street near Machado Street shortly after 6 a.m. when he was first stuck by a black Nissan Altima sedan and then run over by an older Toyota pickup truck. Ventura was taken by city ambulance to The Queen's Medical Center where he was pronounced dead about 7 a.m.
