Pedestrian 'extremely critical' after getting run over

Advertiser Staff

A pedestrian is in "extremely critical" condition after being struck by a car and run over by another this morning at 2305 Kalihi St.

Emergency Medical Services spokesman Bryan Cheplic said the pedestrian, a male believed to be in his late 50s or early 60s, was taken to The Queen's Medical Center.

Police are shutting down part of the road around the accident and will be rerouting traffic.

After the first car struck the man, a second ran him over and trapped him underneath the vehicle, which he had to be pried from before being taken to the hospital.

EMS was alerted of the accident at 6:08 a.m.

It is not known yet if he was in a crosswalk or if drugs, alcohol or speed were factors.
