Peters gets All-America honors

Brigham Young-Hawai'i junior outside hitter Michelle "Tuli" Peters has been named to the 12-player AVCA Division II All-America volleyball first team.

Hawai'i Pacific senior middle blocker Barbara Martin was named to the second team and BYUH setter LeeAnn Mapu was an honorable-mention pick.

The selections were made by an American Volleyball Coaches Association committee.

Peters, a Kahuku High graduate from La'ie, averaged 5.56 kills and 3.89 digs per game while leading the Seasiders to an undefeated regular season and the championship of the Pacific West Conference.

BYUH lost in the opening round of the NCAA II Pacific Regional to finish with a 20-1 record.


WINTER BASEBALL

TITLE GAME TONIGHT

The Honolulu Sharks beat the Waikiki BeachBoys, 10-2, and the West Oahu CaneFires beat the North Shore Honu, 7-0, last night in regular-season finales of Hawaii Winter Baseball.

Waikiki plays North Shore for the championship tonight at 7 at Les Murakami Stadium.
