Kamehameha Highway reopens after accident

Advertiser Staff

Kamehameha Highway on the North Shore has reopened following a late-night traffic accident that sent two men to The Queen's Medical Center.

The accident occurred near Velzyland when a 21-year-old man driver flipped the truck after veering north-bound into the shoulder and then into a wall.

The driver was not wearing his seat belt and was ejected from the truck. He was taken to The Queen's Medical Center in extremely critical condition, Emergency Medical Services said.

His passenger, a 22-year-old man, was also taken to Queen's, but was in serious but stable condition.

It is not known whether the passenger was wearing his seat belt, or if drugs, alcohol or speed were factors.
