LIHU'E, Kaua'i — The Waipahu Marauders didn't attempt many passes Friday night, and when they did Kaua'i Red Raiders defensive back Justyn Jumawan-Perreira was there to make them pay.

Justyn Jumawan-Perreira, a senior defensive back, returned two interceptions for touchdowns as Kaua'i beat Waipahu, 17-6, in the semifinals of the First Hawaiian Bank/HHSAA Division II State Football Championships at Vidinha Stadium.

Jumawan-Perreira's first pick-six was from 20 yards out with 2:05 remaining before halftime. Kainoa Lemke's extra point made it 7-6 Kaua'i. On the play, Waipahu's Gil Fernandez attempted a play-action pass and Jumanwan-Perreira was there to pick off his high toss over the middle.

Jumawan-Perreira also scored on a 55-yard interception return with 10:42 left in the game.

Waipahu's Fernandez attempted only five passes — one was caught, one was incomplete, one was picked off by linebacker Kevin Holtzman and two were returned by Jumawan-Perreira.

Kaua'i plays the winner of King Kekaulike-'Iolani for the title next Friday at 5 p.m. at Aloha Stadium.
